Anil Ambani Group may finance 'Akbar Jodha'

The Reliance-Anil Dhirubhai Ambani Group (R-ADAG), which bought Adlabs Films to further its foray in the entertainment sector, is now looking at financing films in a big way. After plans of setting up three state-of-the-art film studios in the Film City premises, the Ambani-owned company, it seems, has plans to buy Ashutosh Gowariker.s .Akbar-Jodha., starring Hrithik Roshan and Aishwarya Rai. The film has been struggling to find buyers.

Praveen Nischol, head of Adlabs Films, admits that they are in talks with Gowariker. .We would like to involve ourselves in good projects. .Akbar-Jodha. seems an interesting project, but we are not sure at this moment,. says Nischol.

Interestingly, Gowariker had first taken this periodical to UTV, which funded .Swades.. But the Shah Rukh Khan starrer, despite critical acclaim, failed to create magic at the box office, which could be the reason for UTV.s disinterest in .Akbar Jodha...

.Eklavya. picked up by Sony

While the fate of .Akbar-Jodha. hangs precariously, Vidhu Vinod Chopra.s .Eklavya., complete and ready for release now, has been apparently picked up by Sony Pictures for distribution at Rs 25 crore. The film stars Amitabh Bachchan, Sanjay Dutt and Saif Ali Khan.
